First T5 !

Posted by vdogamer on Thursday, August 7th 2008

I got my first T5 item (shoulders) yesterday from void reaver. I also got the 2H sword despair from the opera event over the weekend as an off spec item. First pic is at the stormwind auction house. Second pic shows guildies resting before the big raid :). Yesterday’s raid was a bit sloppy, took 10 minutes to kill VR, yes he enraged and started one shotting everyone, I was hit for 20300 and died instantly. Some lock put a curse on him and we got him down 15 sec after he enraged, only 5-6 brave people survived lol

High Astromancer Solarian down

Posted by vdogamer on Monday, August 4th 2008

Yessssssssssssss! We downed her last night after an unsuccessful attempt on Saturday. The fight is easy, people have to just watch out for the bomb. I had solarian alarm so it wasnt a big problem for me. The fight is in two phases, in phase one she will shoot arcane missiles at one randomly chosen target. It hits for a lot so healers have to be on their toes at all time. I had a macro which I got from wowwiki.com and it worked perfectly. She also casts ‘Wrath of the Astromancer’ in this phase only. (which is also called the bomb). This bomb will do fixed damage on the targeted person, the damage is distributed evenly with close raid members so all healers and ranged dps stay in a group. After 6 sec the person explodes, all people next to him at this point will get 90% fall damage, which basically means they will die. In Phase 2 solarian disappears and 15 adds come in who have to be taken down really really fast, after that solarian comes back with 2 priests who have to be interrupted all the time. They heal a LOT and a single heal can wipe the raid. Tanks can also get wrath of the astromancer so they have to be very careful as they might end up wiping all other tanks and melee dps when they explode. At 20% she becomes a big void walker and its a basic tank and spank fight. It was a fun fight overall and prima nocta is officially 2/4 TK.

First screenshot is when we started charging, second is with solarian in VW form, I will post a third pic tomorrow with her down.

Void Reaver down

Posted by vdogamer on Thursday, July 31st 2008

We were able to one shot Void Reaver last night. The clear went much better, no wipes in 55 minutes. We had a very simple strategy. We had 4 tanks, 7 healers and 14 dps. Tanks, melee dps and a shammy healer were next VR right in the middle. shammy used his chain healing to keep everyone alive, great job Noscul. All others were split in groups of 3 with a healer each. This healer’s job was to keep his group alive and if possible heal the tanks to help Nos. Every time an orb was thrown the entire group had ran back 20 steps or till they hit the wall. It was a bit chaotic as people were yelling at their group members to run. One thing I learned was that if multiple orbs are thrown at you, you have to leave your current position. If you are standing next to the wall while you were escaping the first orb you have to move away from the wall as the second orb will hit the wall. This fight would be much more tougher without the addons, I cant imagine how people would do it without the addons. I am a big fan of bigwigs now, I don’t think I will use deadly boss mods ever again. Fallen champion badges dropped but were given to Adorra and Noscul ..:( We are planning on Mags and Grull today and we will do our first attempt on Solarian on Sunday. At least thats the plan. My Kara team will try to finish Kara on Saturday. Anyway here are the screenshots. I am the pally on the right hand side sitting down. I will try to get better shots next time :)

Void Reaver

Posted by vdogamer on Monday, July 28th 2008

We had our first attempt on void reaver last night and it was a LOT of fun. We got him down to 35% on our third try. All 25 of us had void reaver alarm installed and guess what it DOES NOT work. First two tries were a complete chaos as half of the people died in the first minute while VR kept on spamming those orbs. Finally someone figured that bigwigs was working and deadly boss mods was not. Some of us installed bigwigs and it made a lot of difference. We got him to 35% and we are going to try again today. It makes we appreciate the guilds who downed him without any addons, it must take a lot of crazy syncronization to get it done. That being said the fight it not that hard, the trash before the fight however is not that plesant. The 71 and 72 elite hawks did wipe us on the first try. Overall it was a good night. Hopefully we down him tonight and if we do I will post pics tomorrow.

First Post

Posted by vdogamer on Wednesday, July 23rd 2008

This is my first blog of any kind. I have been playing warcraft for 18 months now and I have been a paladin all the time. I have learnt a lot about the class and I wanted to share my experiences which hopefully will help fellow paladins. My guild has cleaned Mag, Grulls and had a maiden attempt at Lurker. I will be posting my experiences on the fight along with the screenshots.
