It is not a secret that retail is not doing so well this quarter. American consumers went into hiding in September, leaving retailers with terrible sales and an uncertain future well beyond the holiday season. Wal-Mart Stores Inc said sales of discretionary items were weak as it posted solid results that were nevertheless a bit below expectations. Target reported a bigger than expected drop. Luxury stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks also suffered in a deep sales slump. This defiantly worries a lot of retailers since holiday shopping season is coming. Customers probably began switching to lower-price brands and stores such as 1 dollar store. Many people said they plan to cut down cost in clothing, gift, decoration and travel. Therefore, we are probably seeing more and more discount coming out for clothing retails these days. Indeed, I just got another 30% off coupon from A/X last week. Not that I am into video games, but I do have a special someone who loves gaming. Sexy costumes have always been a Halloween favorite. For a long time, Playboy sexy costumes did very well in the market. One brand that is rising to the top is Leg Avenue. Leg Avenue costumes are much better quality compare to most of Halloween costumes. However, they are also more expensive than most non-brand costumes. I haven’t shopped in Kmart for long time, but I finally got sucked into their Halloween costume deals today.  Kmart has been suffering from falling profit for long time and I wonder who still shop at Kmart.  But Kmart just updated their web site today and they are showcasing their Halloween events.  The store has a selection of Totally Ghoul Halloween costumes for 30% off. Shipping adds $6.25, but if you order over $39, you can get free shipping.  This is probably one of the best discounts out there for Halloween this year.  Sale ends October 18, so you need to hurry up.   

For my fairy tales party, I decided to dress up as little red riding hood.  Kmart has a sweet deal for adult’s red riding hood.  Its original price is $29, but after discount its only 20 dollars.  However, this costume is not as nice the one they sell on BuyCostumes.com.  But it is a good saving of over 20 dollars.

Yes, it is happening! Diesel is celebrating its 30^th birthday on Oct 10, and 17 Diesel stores are participating sales for a limited edition jean in store or online. The sales doesn’t apply to their regular priced jeans but their special “thirty dirty” jeans only. Diesel jeans are loved by denim lovers around the world. I had few crazy friends asked me to help them buy 300 dollars a pair of Diesel jean and ship them back to Asia. For this limited edition Diesel jean, 50 dollars is totally worthy. Back in early Augest, I did a research on hot Halloween costumes for 2008. Since the presidential election is this year, I remembered to include few Halloween masks made out of famous politicians. We made sure we would buy keywords such as Hilary Clinton, Bill Clinton, McCain, Obama and Bush masks. However, there was no way we can predict Sarah Paline costumes will get so big for Halloween this year. Sarah Paline made people talked about politics again. One of my friends actually ditched me for dinner because she wanted to watch the vice presidential debate. Her reason wasn’t that she cared about politics. She was hoping to see Sarah Paline to say something stupid so she could have a good laugh of it. My guy friend Chris told me he planned to dress up as Sarah Paline for Halloween because that would be the “nightmare” of America.

I have to admit whether you love Sarah Palin or hate her, there is one thing for sure… she is definitely adding some much needed fun to the Republican Party! The most popular jeans in winter are either skinny jeans or wide legs. And J brand definitely made some great jeans for these two cuts. J Brand is also loved by celebrities. Of course, just because an item of clothing is worn by a certain celebrity, doesn’t mean this brand is cool. But J Brand jeans actually was named THE denims to have in 2007.

Miley Cyrus popped up in a pair of $158 of J Brand. Angelina Jolie had seen to wear a pair of J Brand (the 14″ cigarette leg in Ink and Jett). Two weeks ago, I went to their clearance sales, and I was able to score two pairs of J brand skinny jeans. They were on sales for 25 dollars a pair.
