Asus WL-520gU 802.11b/g Wireless Router for $29.99 Shipped After Rebate.

This past weekend, I went to Frys for the 3rd time in an effort to get a router.  The first time I went was due to my trusty Netgear finally losing its wireless capabilities after five years of trustworthy service.  I then went on to get another Netgear that boasted a 10x speed increase from the standard 802.11b/g speed and was very sad to find that it didn’t work wirelessly.  I had spent a about $70 on that router, which I found ridiculous, and seeing how it didn’t work, I had to return it.

My next attempt was to get the standard model, which appeared to look like the same one of the one that I had just broken.  What I liked about it was the price.  It was only $30, the price that I had originally paid for my router 5 years ago, and the price I feel a router should cost.  Upon installation though I found out that the max speed was only 500 mb/s and wasn’t satisfied, going back to Frys and returning another one. 

This time, I am going to Frys to try this Asus router.   I hate how some routers are just so plain expensive, and just feel horrible to pay more than $40 on a router, which I strongly believe shouldn’t be done.  The Asus model thankfully is only $29.99 shipped from ZipZoomFly.com.  I’m just going to Frys to return my current one and check it out (and not buy it from them).

Up until this year, it was very expensive to get a GPS system.  In fact, unless you were severely directionally challenged, it didn’t really make sense to get one.  Well, this year is going to be different.  There are already a ton of GPS deals and come Christmas time, you’re going to see a whole lot more.  Even with these deals though, I wouldn’t normally write about a refurbished GPS system, but since I saw this deal, I had to write about it. 

Garmin IS the name brand in GPS systems, and there is no doubt about it.  While there are several other great brands out there, such as TomTom, the name Garmin is for now imprinted in everyone’s psyche when they hear the word “GPS.”  Amazon is offering the Garmin Nuvi 680 for only $199.99.  Even though this is a refurbished product, this is what this model comes with:

• Bluetooth connectivity
• MSN traffic
• FM transmitter to listen to the radio

For other models that come with these functions expect to pay over $300 a pop.  The great thing about Amazon though is that if your model isn’t working correctly due to it previously being used, you can simply return it 30 days later for a full refund!  If you were thinking of getting a GPS system, you won’t find many deals better than this one for now.  But if you can wait a bit, maybe a month from now, the beginning of the Christmas deals will be starting and it just might be possible to get your hands on a similar if slightly better deal then.
