A fun team building day at the Grove turned into a scene from the movie Outbreak. The plan was for our department to go out and spend some time together, watch The Dark Knight, and have some dinner and drinks. Simple enough, but the day took a nasty turn that no one could have predicted.
We watched the movie, which was awesome by the way, and then headed to the Farmer’s Market afterwards for drinks. As we got there, our group had dramatically gotten smaller. A few of my colleagues left early because they didn’t feel good. At first we didn’t make anything out it, but as people started refusing free rounds of drinks, I knew something was wrong.
As I was trying to figure out what could have happened, I started to feel a little nauseous. At first I thought it was just psychological and not actually physical. But I was definitely wrong when my ride had to pull over for me to yack my brains out. What added to insult was it ricocheted off the wall and splatter onto my favorite pair of chucks and jeans.
I finally got home and violently threw up all night long. I was aching, having cold sweats, and was just hating life. Food poisoning or a virus of some sort had struck and it struck us with vengeance. As I tried to recover from my horrific night, I turned to my old friend Pedialyte. You would think it’s just for kids by the playful design of the teddy bear, but it’s truly one of the best remedies to replace fluids and electrolytes lost during vomiting. So word of advice my friends, stock up on the Pedialyte
because you never know when another attack of food poisoning will occur.

My team building day was a little different than I imagined, but I guess we’ll always have the memory of the day we all got sick together…
