A question that was asked by many die-hards is…what happened to the electric car. Edison told Ford, “The electric car is dead.” He had created the alkaline battery to power an electric car. This thing could drive 100 miles before needing a charge. That’s rediculous. Did you know the GM EV1 could only go 125 miles before needing a charge? That’s like 80 years and no improvement in battery life. A few other companies have come out with electric cars, but none with as much media exposure as Tesla - of which I have actually seen one roadster before. For $100K, you can get almost 250 miles per charge, and is an actual sports car. Seriously…it’s really a Lotus Elise, reshelled. And this thing is fast. Faster acceleration than most supercars out there, and it looks sexy too. No wonder girls would rather talk to a guy in a green car. I would talk to a guy in this particular green car. Flirt my way into the driver’s seat, burn up the tires, and hear only the hum of the electric engine. Tesla is now in the planning stages of a sedan, for about $60K. Much more affordable…but we’ll see. Electric is cheap too, after hours. However, unless you have a garage and a specific charger, you’ll be charging for quite a while. And electricity is made in most areas by burning coal. And no, there is no such thing as clean coal. It still emits carbon dioxide, not as bad as regular coal, but just as bad.
