Canon’s EOS brand of DSLR’s are well respected, originally launched in 2000. Announced in August of 2007, the Canon EOS 40D is a DSLR aimed at the semi-professional market. Building off its 30D predecessor, this camera offers 10MP and a multitude of advanced features in a robust, ergonomic design. The photos are of consistent good quality due to a wide dynamic range in the camera’s performance. Priced north of $800 one would expect such for their money but good value will be critical to the market the Canon EOS 40D is aimed at. While no longer the latest and greatest avaiable, the EOS 40D is a solid buy and few faults.

Consumers RANT about: poor auto white balance for indoor shots, optional lens with purchase is not very useful, continuous shoot rate slower than specified and low resolution LCD display.
