Box Full of Freddy for $22.99 from Amazon

Posted by toxicoyster on Wednesday, October 15th 2008

Just in time for Halloween, Freddy is back and spreading more joy than he could ever imagine!  What, joy?  Yeah, that’s because Amazon is selling the entire Nightmare on Elm Street collection for a mere $22.99.  This box set comes with 8 different DVDs that would make it less than $3 per disc!  This includes every movie Freddy has starred in from beginning to end.  The one movie I do not think it includes though is Freddy vs Jason, probably my personal favorite.  Seeing how popular his movies are though, I doubt Freddie will be able to stay away from the big screens for long.  There are only so many SAW movies we can watch, especially since Jigsaw has already died in #3.  Did you know #5 is coming out this Halloween?  At least you can’t kill Freddie!

4 GB RAM Dual Memory Kit for $22.99 after Rebate

Posted by toxicoyster on Tuesday, October 14th 2008

Frys has been giving a lot of deals on RAM recently and here’s another one.  For only $22.99 (after rebate), you can get an additional 4 GB of RAM added on to your slow computer.  Price without the rebate is $62.99.  The specific model is the Crucial 4GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SODIMM Memory Kit.  Yes, you have to install it yourself, but think of how much smoother your computer will run.

The reason why I think buying RAM is such a great deal is think about when you buy a new computer.  Usually the best of the best computers come with 4 GB of RAM now a days, but many of the common computers or deal computers come with 2 GB.  The price difference when everything is the same is usually several hundred dollars.  For 2 GB of RAM difference, I would say it’s at least $150.  For only $22.99, you can upgrade your computer yourself and save a lot of money.  Heck, without the rebate, you would still save a bundle.

Starbucks Addicts, head to your nearest Barnes & Noble!

Posted by toxicoyster on Monday, October 13th 2008

Barnes & Noble is giving away complimentary cups of caffe latte, cappuccino, espresso, freshly brewed coffee, or hot tea at any outlet with the Starbucks kiosks in them.  This is up to a $3.20 value!

This could be seen as a competition move against Borders who has Seattle’s Best brand in their stores, but why not take advantage of a good thing?  The deal ends on Halloween (10/31 for those of you that didn’t know, and yes, I do know someone that didn’t know…).  You can’t just walk in there otherwise they would be handing out free liquid stimulation by the pool full.

Link to coupon

I am not a coffee person, but I find it amazing at how many people live and die for it.  When I was in DC, there was honestly 2 Starbucks for every block and it’s not like they weren’t busy.  I recently heard that Starbucks is going to start closing down some of their retail spots as they are starting to compete with each other.  NO KIDDING!  But still, they always seem so busy…

7 Marvel Movie DVDs for 27.99 from Amazon

Posted by toxicoyster on Sunday, October 12th 2008

Amazon is selling a Marvel DVD bundle including 7 seperate Marvel movies for only $27.99.  That makes it a little more than $3 to get a copy of each.  Here is what’s included:

  • Daredevil
  • Elecktra
  • X-Men
  • X-Men 2
  • X-Men 3: The Last Stand
  • Fantastic 4
  • Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer

This is not a shabby collection if I say so (although I didn’t like most of these movies), but there are so many other Marvel movies that didn’t make the cut such as Spiderman, Ghost Rider, Hulk, Blade (did you know Blade was a Marvel property?), Iron Man, etc, etc.  I think the reason is that all of these are Fox movies too.  Anyways, if you don’t have any of these movies than this price isn’t that bad.  If you do have any of these copies though, this is probably not that great of a deal.  Remember that Black Friday is merely a month away and when that day comes, all of these movies will be at most $5 each.  It also depends on if you like these movies and are NOT a comic book fan.  Most comic book fans tend to not like the Marvel movies that much…

Red Xbox 360 Controller for $47.99 Shipped

Posted by toxicoyster on Saturday, October 11th 2008

Microsoft has released a new color for their Xbox 360 controllers.  The new color is now red, which was the hot color of last year (remember the Gap (Red) line?), but I’m too sure about this year…

Regardless, it’s always nice to have the option of picking a color for your own controller, especially since sometimes people use them as a distinguishing factor as to who’s controller is who’s.  Buy.com is selling the new controller for $47.99 shipped, which is actually cheaper than the retail price of $64.99.  However, if you think about it, do you reallyneed a new controller, and if you do, does it really need to be red?  First off, let’s forget that this is a limited edition color (whoop dee doo).  When a 360 game comes out, it normally goes for $60, but you can always find some deal on it to make it around $50.  What really bugs me is that 360 controllers (as are the other systems) are so expensive that they are just as much as the games themselves, sometimes more!  Since the 360 has been out for some time, prices on their controllers, especially the 3rd party versions, are becoming cheaper.  Some are in the $20 range.  If you need a new controller, opt for the black one or pink (gasp) one, which can sometimes be very cheap.  Just look around and save your cash on the games themselves.

Mio C220 GPS for $74.96 from Circuit City

Posted by toxicoyster on Friday, October 10th 2008

I said it last year and I’ll say it again, this Christmas is going to be the year of the GPS.  GPS prices have come a long way over the years and I predict that this year everyone will be standing in line to buy at least one GPS, if not for themselves, for someone else.  What was once a luxury $300 plus item can now be a common under $100 for everyone and not only that, GPS systems are just cool.

I do not know a lot about the Mio brand, but I know that for this price, you are definitely getting a deal.  One thing I like on the GPS my friend has is that it can give you directions through audio.  This is very hand if you’re driving and don’t have the time to read directions off of the screen.  The other thing that I like is the ability to find stores or restaurants when you’re on the road.  It’s almost like having internet in your car.

Link to deal - don’t forget to pick up in store to save on shipping.

1 TB External HD for $69.99 from Best Buy

Posted by toxicoyster on Thursday, October 9th 2008

Holy cow, 2 days in a row for portable memory super deals.  Best Buy is selling a TB external hard drive memory by Western Digital for only $69.99!  I know I have had many posts in the past about external hard drive deals, but this is by far the cheapest deal I have ever seen.  The deal is so cheap that there is a chance that this is a typo or a large mistake on the retailers behalf, probably almost a 50% off mistake!  Anyways, you can click the link and see it for yourself.  Be warned, these types of deals spread quickly across the webisphere and it’s sure to sell out soon, unless Best Buy has a massive selection of them and is trying to clearance them off or something.

*Update: if you clicked on the link, you would see that the page no longer exists.  This means that it truly was a mistake or it sold out so fast that they aren’t even going to have this product for a while.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith Bundle for $64.23 from Dell

Posted by toxicoyster on Wednesday, October 8th 2008

Guitar Hero 4, the Aerosmith version has come out several months ago, but it’s still hard to find any deal on the set, which includes the game and special guitar.  Dell is now offering that, and for those that start their Christmas shopping early, this might be one of those deals to get for that special gamer that you know.  Dell is selling the bundle for only $64.23 when you use their coupon codes.  This is about 1/3 off from the $99.99 normal price tag, which is hard for retailers to go under because they are usually mandated by the manufacturer to stay at that price unless given the go for a price cut.  This includes versions for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The Guitar Hero series is a very hot game franchise if you don’t know anything about video games.  The newest game is coming out in October, in which Guitar Hero is going to jump on the Rock Band (a competing franchise) bandwagon.  The new game will allow players to create their own band including not only the guitar, but singing, and drumming.  Until then though, you can get to know the franchise for those that are new, with this great deal.

USB 2 GB Drive for $1.99 (after rebate) from Circuit City

Posted by toxicoyster on Tuesday, October 7th 2008

7This is probably the best deal I have seen on a USB drive since last Black Friday.  At Circuit City for only $1.99, you can purchase a PNY Optima Pro ReadyBooster 2 GB USB drive.  The one and only catch is that this is what the price comes down to after rebate and you know how I feel about rebates…The full price though is only $6.99, which for 2 GB really isn’t that bad!

Possibly the best thing about this model is that it is keychain compatible.  I personally like to have my USBs on my keychains so that I always have them incase I need to save something that can’t be emailed.  Another reason is that by having it on my keychain, it almost guarantees that I won’t leave my USB in a public computer, which I have done on 2 occasions in the past.  Still at only $1.99, maybe you could get several pairs incase you lose the first.  These would also make decent gifts or company white elephant entries.

Link to deal - expires 10/18

Free Windows Server 2008 for Students

Posted by toxicoyster on Monday, October 6th 2008

Alright, it’s another FREE post!  This offer is for students only though (or people who want to pretend that they are students…).  MicrosoftDreamSpark is handing out free copies of their Windows Server 2008 *Standard Edition* for students!

Link to freeness

I’m sure you’re thinking, what’s the catch???  Well for starters, you need to know how to use this program.  It’s not like anyone can just install a server onto your computer, in fact you probably need a program to just have this free one on your computer.  Pretty much, you need to be a programmer, this stuff isn’t easy.  However, for any of you that have ever purchased a Microsoft software program, like MS Office, you’ll know just how expensive these programs can be (you’ll save over $500 just on this guy)!  I do however have a problem with the newest Office, Office 2007, and since I don’t really like Vista, who knows, I probably would have a problem with Server 2008 too.

Oh well, if you’re a student, go try it out.  What do you have to lose?
